I know you have probably walked by this storefront dozens of times just north of the Reeves Center on 14th Street, but have you ever stopped to look at the posters/pictures? They are phenomenal. Check out my favorite one after the jump.

I just happened to be surfing the internet and found this picture and information on the Emma Mae Gallery. I was quite surprised. I want you to know that I appreciate it and it is a wonderful tribute to the History of Rhythm, Blues, Jazz and Gospel which the gallery features and my mother, Emma Mae Butler-Dorsey who the gallery was named for.
You may be aware that I lived in Petworth for 52 years at 801 Varnum St., NW and I served as the Ward 4 Representative to the Board of Education for 8 years, ANC and 2 terms as President of the Ward 4 Dems.
This was simply a present surprise to see the gallery that I have worked so hard to keep in place in order to preserve this great history of music and the history of our wonderful city.
