House For Sale of the Day – Fixer Upper Edition

This house/mansion is truly amazing. You can easily imagine what it looked like in its former glory. And I’m sure with a million bucks or so it could be restored to its previous glory. It is located on the corner of 18th and Monroe, NW. So for my real estate sleuths – what is the asking price of this mansion. Check out a close up of a sweet window after the jump.

And to whomever said there are no tile roofs in DC — another example. Also? Has this person never been on New Hampshire Ave north of Grant Circle? There are lots of tile roofs in DC.

I used to walk my dogs past that house every day when I lived in Mt Pleasant. Always reminded me of Grey Gardens and I was always hoping it would magically go on the market for a fraction of what they ARE asking for it so I could buy it myself.

This house has been on and off the market for about 3 years. With different realtors. Every so often I’ll see some people living there (squating??) and even less frequently, someone will come by and do some repairs. I can’t wait til someone buys and restores it. It will do a lot for a block that is notorious for drug dealing. (The house across the street, in particular.)
