I really like the metal roof and windows. It looks like it might be an art studio. It is located on Otis Place near 11th I think. Anyone know what this building is/will be?

Rant: I made the mistake of reading all the comments on yesterday's post about Columbia...
How brave of you to make that comment as an Anon...
YES! Im going to eat a Broad Street every day. Best cutlet sandwiches around!
Shophouse is a good somewhat innovative choice.
the lower part does not seem new though; so technically is its a pop up…
I love this building–I go by it on my neighborhood walks. I’ve tried peeking through the windows–I think it’s just a cool house.
It is an architect’s house – he did the design and renovation himself, the house was a burnt out shell. He has designed some amazing spaces in the area and was featured on HGTV for a warehouse conversion in LeDroit Park. He designed the lobby for the firm I work for and it is quite a head turner.
Gronning Architects
AngryParakeet is correct. I believe the architect also owns another house about a block away, which is being renovated. No online evidence of it anywhere.
10 pictures of the project on 13th & Otis:

The brick walls were actually so damaged that they could not be load bearing. There is an internal (exposed) I-beam support structure holding everything together.

it desperately needs painting. it’s becoming an eyesore…
Eric also did the design for CORK WINE BAR and some of MARVIN
To my surprise, the architect did the gut rehab of the apartment I live in now. I say surprise, because the building is owned by another architect and we were told that the owner of my building did the work….strange.
