Turkiya makes a good point if people can look beyond the pink and purple…

That the commercialization of the area is beginning to overtake the community of U Street. Yes Target is nice, but it’s mos def not community. But enjoy the sales tax DC!

Having to seek out an art scene, means the art scene is too insignificant to be any good, or to be relevant. And completely undermines the argument that it is “thriving” — you can’t thrive in the shadows.

i like how they both claim to haven grown up in d.c. and then actually say Bethesda, as if sadly realizing they weren’t
