Well, I didn’t see Maureen Bunyan this time but I did see lots of folks having a great time at the show. Bloombars of course is the great new spot on 11th Street next to Wonderland that bills itself as an underground “spontaneous” scene for art and music. It is arguably the coolest new development in the entire city. Despite opening an hour late, a quick power outage and an annoying fire alarm blaring across the street the evening had the same great vibe as the previous performances. There is a wonderful diversity among the crowd and the music of course is terrific. I unfortunately only caught the opening act before having to leave. Did anyone catch the headliners? How was your experience?

I walk my dog by this spot a lot – so what’s the deal? What is it? Does it have regular hours, or just an occasional art spot?
It was a typical Saturday night, just hanging out with old friends and having a few beers across from Blooms. I notice a gag fire alarm on the living room wall, much like the red boxes lining the the halls of my fondly remembered grade schools.
“What will happen if I pull that?” I ask myself. “Will snakes pop out out? Will there be a funny pre-recorded message? Will it result in an anti-climactic nothing?”
So I “push in and pull down”, it is anything but anti-climactic. The stentorian ringing winds me and the disbelief in my hostess’ eyes assures me that yes, I have royally screwed up.
Sorry folks.
We told the fire department not to come, Bloom somehow survived and I learned not to pull gag fire alarms any more.
I’m in love with the woman on the left!
