Thanks to a reader for giving me the heads up about tons of folks running around the U St. area with numbers on their backs. I couldn’t get any teams to stop for very long but I caught the two photographed above at a stop light. They told me it was a High Trek Adventure race. Man, I wish I knew about this earlier, it sounds awesome. From the High Trek Web site:
“You and your team partner will be on a lively, one-day, DC amazing race. This scavenger hunt will take you to unmarked checkpoints known as TREKpoints and explore Washington,DC like you’ve never experienced it before as the puzzle unfolds. Our high octane energy adventure game might take you through the many historical neighborhoods of our nation’s capitol like Foggy Bottom, Adams Morgan, Georgetown, Capitol Hill, Dupont Circle, the Washington Mall and some nifty places you might not even know about!
On this sensational metro adventure, you’ll solve clues ranging from pop culture to math (nothing tougher than 8th grade) to American history, anagrams, sudoku, and so much more. It’s like a real life Trivial Pursuit game!”
Can’t believe I missed this. Did anyone participate?
For those that missed it, fear not. A reader and I are organizing a PoP scavenger hunt for the second Saturday in October. Stay tuned for details.

Am I the only person who lives in the U Street Area to have a problem with the fact that...
XM radio, but probably only because I get it for free. 1st Wave, XMU, BBC or Backspin....
The point is... I don't need to leech Wi-Fi (I have it at home... unlike, apparently,...
Haven't listened to the radio in about 12 years. It's all iPod for me.
As a SAHM (stay at home mom) WAMU, 88.5, keeps me sane and able to have an intelligent...
Very cool!
Damn! I love a scavenger hunt! When I moved here in October there was one going on that I missed too. I remember it changed neighborhoods every year and involved a lot of drinking and bribing the judges was pretty much mandatory.
Does anyone know the name? A quick Google search comes up empty handed.
Babes in Brunchland took an unofficial third. so much fun. highly recommended.
You know you want to do that any day but October 11. Right? *pouts*
Anne, those were some awesome pictures! thanks for sharing.
Urban Dare Arilington takes place on October 18 based out of Mister Day’s in Clarendon. Team of 2 solve clues to find checkpoints where they must take photos or perform dares. Check it out at http://www.urbandare.com. It’s a blast.
Hey! That’s me! (The one on the left.) I’m like, totally famous.
Wow. This photo was for a legitimate purpose. Who’d have known? I thought that you just wanted to take a picture because we’re so unbelieveably attractive.
