New Pizzeria and Wine Bar in Adams Morgan Looks Close To Opening

DSCN2939, originally uploaded by Prince of Petworth.

They got new signs up. And even posted a menu. Sadly, it seems “proper attire” is required. I don’t know if you can require proper attire with hanging beads in the front window, right? Oh well, you’ll have to tell me if it’s any good. Photos of the menu after the jump.

It could be mediocre, but the prices are very reasonable.

They need to get rid of those beads. I really really hope they do. I’ll give it a try regardless, I don’t wanna be a “negative nancy.” haha I’m glad they invested in the neighborhood and opened up a business in this tough economic climate.

    Where’s this located?

  • DC20010

    What, no Jumbo Slice?

  • Prince Of Petworth

On 18th Street of course. Near the Peruvian restaurant and the antique store.

  • GforGood

    18th St is a long street. I know I know.. ;)

Anyway, prices seem reasonable. But isn’t it “arugUla”. Seems they spelled it “arugEla” (could of course be some fancy Italian spelling of it). Now, assuming I am right (a big leap of faith there), I think will rent a tuxedo, a high hat, a walking cane and a monocle and go in and say: “Proper spelling would be much appreciated.”

The beads make me think “proper attire” would be 70s-era disco garb.

I used to live above that place, back when it was Bluefin, and before that, some California surfer sushi place. The building has a SERIOUS rat problem — that’s why I moved out. (When I say SERIOUS, I don’t mean typical DC rodent problem.) Hopefully they’ve gotten the situation under control.

  • GforGood

    Mmm.. rat meat pizza!

  • Adams Morgan

It’s run by the same folks who have Saki and Chloe. It’s about four storefronts up from 18th and Kalorama across the street from the Post Office.

  • Marc P

    The address is 2309 18th.

The “proper attire” requirement will be there for about two months until they realize that they’re headed out of business without the frat set.

Can someone explain DC’s new fascination with wine bars? Personally I prefer my pizza with beer. Will a taco stand and wine bar be coming soon?

  • Anonymous

I tried it out on Wednesday. As an avid pizza eater that eats everything from jumbo slices when I’m drunk to authentic pizzas from Two amys and Paradiso when I’m to dinner on date or just grabbing a bite, I was very impressed with the food and happier that I dont have to cab it it to get a good pizza. The plus side to this restaurant is that they have a beer selection that caters to all my needs. They also have a wine list which I’m not really into but I’m sure will cater to the wine drinkers. Try it out, i was impressed
