From an email:
Local Soccer league District Sports and crusading locally based non-profit love.futbol are kicking off their Get to the Goal campaign this Thursday at Stetson’s on U street. Get to the goal is a commitment by District Sports to help love.futbol build a field for youth in Guatemala by the end of 2009.
love.futbol develops simple, safe soccer fields for children in impoverished communities worldwide. Their vision is a day when all children will have the opportunity to fulfill their passion for soccer; that the game itself is a catalyst for youth development, hope and inspiration

Also…the raffle tonight includes a pair of tickets to the Redskins/Giants game, one month free membership at MINT gym, and gift certificates to Stetson’s, Amsterdam Falafel, and more!
I hope you’ll come out to support…and then go to red derby of course.
i love futbol enough that i am going to see the dc united tonight. the group shoulda planned this on a different night. oh well…
and what sg said is true, dc fields need alot of work as well. as someone who played soccer throughout my youth, i cut my legs up on alot of rocks on dcps “fields.” but i am sure there are places that have it worse so i wish this organization the best.
Agreed. Not the smartest move to put this on the night of United’s final home game…. would have gone otherwise.
I’m truly bummed i did not hear about this earlier. I plan to make a donation via their site since I couldn’t make it last night. Does anyone know if they are recruiting help? I would love to volunteer. -Hil.
hey Hil! email me at liz@lovefutbol.org about volunteering. Thanks so much for considering a donation!
