Since I’m in a celebrating mood I thought it’d be fun to do another house porn edition. This home is located at 1737 Johnson Ave, NW (and I just learned to embed google maps!).
The flier says:
“THE MOST DRAMATIC TRUE LOFT ON MARKET! 3BR/2BA DUPLEX PENTHOUSE BY ARCADIA DESIGN. 2-STORY OPEN LVG AREA W/ FLOATING HELICAL STAIRCASE, INTERIOR ATRIUM & 600+’ ROOF TERRACE. FINEST FINISHES INCL SPA BATHS & TRUE CHEF’S KIT. W/ SIE-MATIC, SUB-ZERO, VIKING & BOSCH. WINE CELLAR, GARAGE PARKING 1-2 CARS. IDEAL DUPONT/LOGAN LOCATION.”
More details and amazing photos found here.
I know it’s just for fun so you don’t really have to say if it’s a good deal or not, you can just enjoy the photos. I do always like “discovering” these small hidden streets. For the curious it is going for $1,675,000. Let me know if any wants to go in on it with me…

Winnie and Teddy are so adorable. How old are they?
Happy Birthday Charles Dickens! Not a lot has changed.
Orange kitties are psycho- I have one and he's nuts. Adorable, but nuts.
Yeah, that right there would have me walking out the door. Nothing says "You'll...
Columbia Heights and Georgia Ave opened on the same day.
Well even though you didn’t really ask I think it’s at least $300,000 overpriced and also I personally think it’s kind of ugly…. could just be the furnishings and also lofts aren’t my thing… all that open space creeps me out. But even if I thought it was beautiful I’d still say it’s way too much.
for those who havent heard. GOOGLE STREET VIEW is now launched in DC clear on up to Baltimore. POP- you should have a post that encourages people to link to good dc street view images. ie drug deals and other awesome stuff.
Umm, did you not see this a few posts below: http://www.princeofpetworth.com/?p=4538
nope nope i didnt. I only look at posts with pictures.
Can they really call that a 3rd bedroom? The sitting room off the guest bedroom?
People actually live in houses like this. Flabbergasted. Is that a pool of water in the living room?
@Lauren: yeah, the interior is kinda 80′s – so that doesn’t help anything. And isn’t the ‘rule’ that in order for a room to be called a bedroom, it has to have a window, otherwise it’s a den? If so, then that place seems to be a 1 bedroom/2 den place.
I’m loving the embedded map–please keep including it. Thanks!
Oh my goodness – I have been to this place for dinner (a few years back). The owner is Jim Abdo of Abdo Development. I am sure you all have seen his work throughout the City. The pictures really don’t do it justice. It is much cooler in person. And yes, that is a little pool/pond! Here is a link to his website. I have no idea if it’s a good deal or not – but the space is really eclectic and very, very unique.

Two words: Ug-ly.
The staircase is strange, but I love the kitchen and all the outdoor space – I would love to have my choice of a little courtyard, a terrace, and a sweet roof deck. ha.
Ugly? Seriously? I can understand that it’s not everyone’s style, but it looks like an amazing living space to me. If I had 1.6 million to spend on a house, I’d rather live there than a boring old moth-ball smelling Colonial near the Cathedral. The loft style doesn’t really appeal to me personally, but all of the unique living spaces (the terraces, the third “bedroom” etc) are really cool.
