Guardian Angels Coming To Columbia Heights

Guardian Angels 1, originally uploaded by thivierr.

I found this photo on flickr from Calgary and, well, if they’re in Calgary I guess they should be in Columbia Heights as well. Do you think the Guardian Angels can have an impact on reducing crime?

this is about time. During the Latin American Youth Center violence in MtP in 1999 I spoke to them about moving into MtP, but I didn’t want to be responsible for them coming in.

finally… I grew up in what would be considered “the hood” back in NYC and these guys were very effective…

These guys were patrolling Columbia Heights during the height of the sniper shootings. They would pump gas for people too afraid to do so. I don’t know what they do for the crime levels but they make me happy to see them!

I saw some guys who I thought were either undercover cops or some local version of guardian angels the other week. but now i think that they may have been drug dealers.

All three of them were mid-30s to 40s, wearing black “Black Yankees” coats and hats. They were just kind of standing around in different place at like 10pm on Friday, on Euclid, right near Cardozo. there was a football game that night, so I assumed they were cops. but then I saw them a few days later in the same spots…

anyway, big thumbs up to real community-based security.

    Certainly can’t hurt!
