Random Reader Rant and/or Revel

You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll open this thread every Monday and Friday. So anything good happen to you this week?

Why every time I come in the kitchen, you in the kitchen? In the goddamn refrigerator. Eatin’ up all the food. All the chitlins… All the pig’s feet… All the collard greens… All the hog maws. I wanna eat them chitlins… I like pigs feet.

  • U

U Street needs a strip club. Not a popular strip club, but just a low key Archibald’s type place.

  • Flipflopirate

    Rant: Hungover.

Revel: Great PoP party, rented a mini pony for my friends b-day… she is going to flip out.

  • ColHeightsChic

U: Not that I’d know this, but U Street did used to have a strip club. Club 1919. Little hole-in-the-wall, lap dancing kind of a joint. ;-)

  • Sammy

Rant – officemate got robbed at gunpoint on her doorstep last night. In Bethesda.

    Sigh.

  • christopher

    i need a hug :(

  • Fellow Petworthian

@ christopher: ((((christopher)))) There is a nice emoticon hug for you! Hope your day get’s better!

  • Fellow Petworthian

Rant: ginko berries that are smushed on the ground smell stinky!
Revel: Glad we don’t have ginko trees in the ‘Worth!

  • Anne

At a community/police meeting last night at 15th and R, it came to light that Councilman Jack Evans (who was in attendancce) had his car stolen over the weekend. It has been recovered by the police. No one is immune…..

  • StubsDC

Rant: stupid leaves – i clean up, and you can’t tell. And those suckers are slippery on the steps on a rainy morning.

Rave: coworker brought in chocolate cake for breakfast. Yum.

  • farragutst

Rant: Coworker got laid off work today. We were forced to go to the nearby Starbucks so he could have privacy packing up his stuff.
    Revel: Today is Friday!!

  • farragutst,
That sucks. That must be a small office you work in…

  • Pukka13

Rave: We’ve started the hunt for our first home.

Rant: The process is long and torturous and more so because we hate our current, noisy apartment neighbors.

  • NateG

I go about in pity for myself, and all the while a great wind carries me across the sky.

  • K North of U

A semi-rant and a question: After learning that the entire block of 14th south of U will be turned into another condo development, I am left wondering what the economics are for these structures in DC. Can anyone who knows what they’re talking about out there give us the scoop? Are new residents moving into these places that would have bought in NoVa or Bethesda? Are most current DC renters moving from English basements to more light? What are the selling points of distinction between the buldings? On that 3 block stretch of 14th, there are something like 6 big new condo buildings selling units plus some smaller stuff on Belmont St.

  • Rant: My entire dad’s side of the family is in town (my parents also live in the area) my mom could have quite possibly picked the worst restaurant EVER despite me suggesting at least 15 other places we could have eaten that would make us look like a giant horde of tourists. My aunt and uncle who are in from CA really want to “tour union station” I reminded them it was a mall and they were still really excited to go. Stab me in the eyeball with a fork.

Rave: 12 days and a wake up until my boyfriend is home on thanksgiving leave from the Army.

  • Odentex

Clear Blue: Take them to the restroom near the platform and the Sbarro’s at Union Station. That’s where Senator Craig likes to cruise young mens (allegedly).

  • labgirl

Rant: my in-laws are coming. I anticipate a weekend of politely refusing old items from their home that should be thrown out, letting them store things in fridge that were about to go bad (or have gone bad) that they couldn’t stand to leave in their own fridge at home, and trying to keep my cool as my mother-in-law gives unsolicited advice on home organization.

Rave: I’ve become part of the family. And they aren’t nearly as crazy-making as my own folks.

  • MPinDC

Rave: Bought a MacBook, my first laptop. I love it.

Rant: Missed a chance to try Pizza Brasil, “possibly the world’s best pizza in Kabul,” last night.

  • Kalia

Rant: so tired, my eyes burn. Also dreading the 26 voice messages my work phone is displaying.

Rave: It is too early to think of one right now…

  • Scared of Cola Heights

Rant: I just heard a guy using his cell phone whilst on the toilet… Really? You’re that important?

    Rave: I’m almost not hungover.
