Did You Know “Barry Manilow” Is A Registered Trademark?

This was the funniest thing I saw while in Vegas:

It’s a bit blurry but it says Barry Manilow is a registered trademark.

I guess I’m going to have to trash the design I had for next year’s PoP t-shirts…

It’s actually pretty common for well-known entertainers to trademark their names in order to have some ability to control how the name is used, especially in connection with commercial ventures. Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Billy Joel, Mariah Carey, Kanye West and many others have done it.

    BOTOX is also trademarked.

  • Nita

Awesome. Of course the guy who makes the whole world sing has a trademarked name. I wonder if all of Diddy’s names are trademarked.

now I have “Copacabana” running through my head! “Her name was Lola….”
