rant: I use firefox and adblock plus and can no longer access the home page of PoP from the individual post pages…

    end rant.

  • KK

Rant: WTF is up with the new announcements on Metro? Does anyone else feel like they raised the volume by 100% and made them 200% more annoying?

  • CB

Rant: I run an ad-supported blog, and some of my readers complain that their ad-block software breaks my site.

  • Stephanie

Rave: So, I always hear negative things about MPD but hadn’t yet had any personal experiences with them. Then, this weekend, our new alarm system was accidentally set off, and within THREE minutes, a DC cop showed up at our door asking if everything was okay. We felt bad about the false alarm, but it was really reassuring to know they respond that quickly! Of course, it could have been a fluke, but why not give them the benefit of the doubt.

  • Kay

On a similar note to Stephanie’s post. While I had my share of “experiences” with the MPD, they responded in similar fashion to two false alarms at my house. One time the cleaning ladies set off the alarm and MPD showed in a heartbeat with guns drawn. While at work, I was frantic on the mobile phone with ADT and I had the 4th district commander on the land line telling him to ask his officers to back down. It was kind of funny, but the cleaning ladies were in hysterics! Luckily after all this time and false alarms, we are still with the same cleaning company. I thought for sure they would have fired us!

  • Rave:
I put in for my first Passport ever…I was expecting the super long wait that i heard of, but It only took 7 days from drop off and back to my door. I love it…Now I have to figure where to go…I think….IceLand for 4 days.

[Rant] My contractor havent been back in about 5 days so i had to cook my turkey over my parents house and the dust is sooo think that im grinding my teeth (im a neat freakazoid)…I keep dusting, but with the place tore up and the contractor having alot more work to do its fruitless… [/rant]

  • Matt

Noticed the new lady voice on the metro on my way home from the airport, too. Maybe they think the inauguration crowds will need a firmer hand?

  • Amel

Rant: I spent all day Sunday checking the web for 2009 Inaugural Balls (PoP please do a post on 2009 Inaugural Balls). I really want to attend one; but all of the cool ones (the one’s that may become official) are all SOLD OUT… Pennsylvania, Hawaii, Illinois. Since there’s no ‘review’ for any of these Inaugural Balls and many are very expensive, I settled on a ball that included food AND drinks. I bought tix to the ‘unoffical’ All American Ball, the tix cost me $250 a pop plus fees!!! I hope this Ball is worth it.

  • Odentex

Rave: At least Mayor Bloomberg is willing to stand up and suggest that the law (in this case a tough new mandatory minimum for gun possession in NY) should apply to everyone equally, whether their name is John Doe or Plexico “Dumbass” Burress: http://tinyurl.com/6lz55g

Rant: When will our city government back up their anti-gun rhetoric with a tougher possession consequence like Bloomberg did?

P.S. See Nate, pistols are dangerous. You could shoot something important off.

  • PabloMa

RANT: I can’t seem to rent out my damned apartment for Inaugural week. Free money= too good to be true, after all.

  • Anonymous

Rant: There were STILL stupid tourists dragging their suitcases through the metro during both morning and evening rush hour today. I was in a hurry both times (isn’t everybody?) and people were standing on the LEFT!!! Gah, give me a break.

Rant 2.0: Our hot water heater has been flipping out since FRIDAY’…and the landlord isn’t coming to check it out until THURSDAY. I need my hot showers to function!

Rave: Currently watching Daniel Radcliffe on Inside the Actor’s Studio…interesting!

  • Odentex,
How does Plaxico shooting himself discount the millions of gun owners that exercise responsible gun ownership? I do not see the connection. This guy was not searched upon entering the club. His gun was not licensed. It likely was not properly holstered. Lots of blame. All of it lies with Plaxico. Not with the gun itself.

If his gun had not went off, this would be a nonissue as he likely was not there to shoot anyone.

  • Christina

I’m not using any ad blocking software, but I also can’t access the home page from any of the individual post pages. I’m using Firefox. What’s up?

  • Prince Of Petworth

Hi Christina. That problem should be fixed now. Let me know. Cheers, PoP

  • Christina

    Awesome! Thanks PoP
