For some reason I’ve wanted an El Camino for years now. I actually almost got one off craigslist but it had already sold. Crushing. The one pictured above is phenomenal. One day, one day…

I think that’s actually the Ford equivalent of the Chevy El Camino, the Ford Ranchero (?) from the late 1970s, just before they were discontinued. You don’t see too many of them around anymore!

I feel lame saying this, but I always wanted a 1978 or 79 corvette because I thought it would be cool to drive something as close to the bat mobile as possible!

DUDE! I also have a deep love affair with the truck-car! I have been scanning the classified ads like a mad man lately looking for a 83 El Camino; those beauties were built with a Oldsmobile 350 diesel engine in limited edition with three on the tree and are harder to find than hen’s teeth. Good form PoP, Good Form.
“The front looks like a car, the back looks like a truck. The front is where we ride, the back is where we ::clap, clap, clap, clap:: EL CAMINO!!”
If you like the El Camino, check out the Subaru BRAT. Same truck-car form factor but shrunk down, and with turbo. What’s not to like?

My dream car? The Volkswagen Minibus.
For PoP:

When I was little, I thought el Caminos were the funniest looking cars ever, and reasoned that they MUST have a jacuzzi in the back… Otherwise, what was the point?
Silly!
Growing up I used to call these trars (half truck half car). They are pretty sweet, especially back in the day when your friends or children could ride in the back without breaking any laws!
AC Cobra 427, or in the alternative, a Sunbeam Tiger.
(Fellow Petworthian, i used to own a bugeye. fun little cars.)
Man, you guys would crap yourselves over all the NEW halfcar/halfpickup things available in Australia and South Africa. I think Holden/GM and Ford currently make/sell them, along with the Subaru Brat, which was discontinued here a few years ago.
