The yucca fries rock but the sauce that comes with the yuca fries is to die for. I keep...
So the trendy salad places are being replace with trendy gourment sandwich places. I'm...
i love this, and the building with harris teeter. these will wind up being better than...
Rave — I am fairly happy with the cleanliness in my apartment right now.
Rant — I barely left the house this weekend and that’s just depressing.
Rant: the challenge of getting chair railing/wainscotting to fit and meet in the no-longer-square corners of an 80+ year old house.
Rave: the deliciousness of finally getting it to work and look good.
Rant: Bicyclists are really some of the most hypocritical holier-than-thou people in this city. I am not a driver (I refuse to buy a car because I live in the city and, because of that, can do everything I need to do without one), and as a pedestrian, bicyclists are easily just as big a hazard to me as cars. At least with cars, I know they will stop at red lights. Cyclists plow through red lights (swerving by me when I’m in the crosswalk), and generally cycle as if they own the road and talk (or write blogs, comments, letters) as if they are entitled to greater rights because they cycle rather than take public transport. Boo on them, and start being more respectful of pedestrians!
My rant and rave are precisely the opposite of Fiery Nuggets’.
Rave: I just saw that my favorite band is coming to the 9:30 club on March 12th — DC Ozomatli fans rejoice!
Rant: It feels like the weekend went by too quickly, I’m back at work today and I can’t concentrate even though there is alot that I could be doing.
Right on Rantish! Not only all that, but bicyclist also like to hurl obscenities at pedestrians when the pedestrian doesn’t cross the street fast enough.
I’m curious, will bicyclists burst into flames if they use their breaks?
Rant: I am so tired of this cold.
Rave: Forecast for the rest of the week is headed upward!
Rave – a few weeks ago with the help of some neighbors we trapped a feral kitten at my house. He was a little sick after his visit to the clinic, so I kept him to see if he’d start eating and put on some weight. A few weeks later, he’s gotten much healthier and really tame…he’s really adorable! We can’t keep him because we already have 2 cats & a dog, but am fostering him until he can get adopted. There’s an ad for him on Petfinder here -

I would love for a PoP reader to adopt my rescue kitten!

FYI for those who live nearby – we found this kitten on 7th St NW between Taylor and Upshur. We have done spay-neuter-release now for 4 cats and have 3 kittens now that could be adopted, thanks to helpful neighbors and free clinics now available.
I would love for a PoP reader to adopt my rescue kitten!
oops – sorry for duplicate postings!!
Rave: This coming Thursday marks the beginning of my golden year.
Rave 2: I will be ringing in my golden year with George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic at the 9:30 Club on Friday, where I will surely commence tearing the roof off the “sucka.”
SM–If I didn’t already have three cats, I’d scoop up that little guy in a flash. I am a sucker for an orange kitty.
Rave: I like to ride my bike in the streets, paths, trails, dirt, pavement
I just like to ride my bike.
Rant: there are some cyclist that make me look like a dick head……..
Rant: My contacts are really bothering me, but I won’t be home until at least 10 o’clock tonight. This means unhappy eyes for the rest of the day.
Rant: I volunteer on Monday nights for a place that is near and dear to my heart–the reason, in fact, that I moved to DC. Just found out last week that it is closing due to financial reasons, and this breaks my heart. Such a shame that an organization that is going SO MUCH GOOD in this city has to close it’s doors…not to mention oust the clients it is currently serving.
Rave: Slumdog Millionaire! Need I say more??
Rant: With the release of the InDesign/K4 integrated workflow management bundle, Adobe has single-handedly sucked all the pleasure and satisfaction out of the fine craft of publication design. K4 is a stealer of souls. A rapist of joy. A pillager of design empowerment and the destroyer of the pride-of-ownership that makes design work the singularly obsessive craft that has payed my bills for more years than I can count. Adobe is the ruination a once-viable way of living. Death. Death. Everywhere is death, and the soon to die. Everywhere are the bleak husks of once-proud Art Directors, bleaching in the sun like discarded snakeskins.
Rave: None.
rant: the tickle in my throat and the runny nose that i blamed on the cold walk to work has turned into a full blown sneezing-cloudy-headed cold in a matter of 15 minutes. awesome.
rave: nope!
rant: my budding cold turned into bronchitis almost walking pneumonia over the weekend. I havent slept more than 2 hours at a time since friday night.
rant2: saturday night my downstairs neighbor had sex so loudly that i could hear it even over my coughing and the TV being on.
rave?:my downstairs neighbor apparently has amazing stamina as they went at it every 20 mins all night.
Rant: Pedestrians who verbally assault anyone who owns a bike, for the sins that complete strangers committed aeons ago, sometimes even in different cities. Not every bike owner breaks the traffic laws.
Calling all bicyclists bad is as far as calling all pedestrians bad.
Not Telling, it’s more than a just a few bicyclists that seem oblivious to pedestrians. I’ve been nearly run over a half dozen times in the last year and the bicyclist is always in the wrong. Last week some idiot was riding his bike about 25 mph through the front carriage port of Union Station at 5:30pm! Bicycles have no business on sidewalks unless the bicyclist is walking them. PERIOD. San Francisco banned bikes on sidewalks after a few elderly people were killed and I don’t see why someone needs to die because you want to ride a child’s toy around and can’t keep to the streets.
A Walker: I’m not saying there aren’t a lot of bicylists. I’m saying when I’m sitting in a coffee shop enjoying the newspaper, a person who has never even seen my on my bike let alone caused them injury or danger in any way–because I do in fact follow the traffic laws–I have a right to enjoy that newpaper in peace without being blamed for every bad bicyclist out there. I have been yelled at by complete strangers while minding my own business having caused no risk to anyone in the vicinity let alone the yeller while waiting for a bus, when sitting in a coffee shop, when shopping, even when on vacation in another city.
For every cyclist who runs a red light there are is a pedestrian who crosses against the light. If you want kinder streets, stop painting an entire demographic with one brushstroke.
rave: I get to leave work soon
rave: comet!
rant: Pluto is still a planet to me!
Can you get out of work for a moment to grab some rewetting drops? That helps.
Rave: Thanks DC-Chica! I love Ozomatli!
Rant: I found a half dead hamster in my classroom this morning:-(
1:21- my most shocking comment ever hurled at me by a bicyclist was, “Share the road, JEW!”
I was talking to this woman at the time and she was like, “Did he just say ‘Jew?’” and when I looked up we were standing in front of a Jewish Community Center.
That was the abrupt end to me caring about bicyclists. They can go rot for all I care.
Rant: Bicyclists who are so oblivious to their reckless bike riding that they don’t even realize what they’ve done!
Rave: Sarcasm. Well, half-sarcasm, because, I was once hit by a bike. No joke. Crossing Scott Circle. It sucked, but the bicyclist got it as bad as me and was really apologetic about it. Still hurt me though.
Rave: Neighbors who drop of Chicken Soup, cough drops, tea, and nyquil when you are sick with the flu! THANK YOU, YOU ROCK!!!
Rave: stayed up till 3am getting the race bikes and street bikes ready for another season of mayhem…
yawn back up at 6:45am yawn tired…nap time
rave: i am pregnant!
rant: after telling my boss, he acknowledged that this would affect the raise that he had talked to me about numerous times, and that it was also illegal, but hey, that’s the world. for fucking real i need a tape recorder.
