The Little Fountain Cafe is located in a hidden little spot below the bar Angles at 2339 18th Street, NW. Here’s a look at the menu. It’s a great date spot and the food is often excellent. Full disclosure – I know the owner and chef pretty well. I previously mentioned it briefly when we spoke about hidden restaurants. But what do you guys think – thumbs up or down? Do you like any particular dish?

I think 20 years from now we will say..."ew"
Living in such a light less place would drive me to self violence.
Yes! How could I have forgotten the sauce. Ohhh, that sauce...
I have a part Oriental of some sort (I think Tonkinese, but will never know for sure),...
I would definitely like to learn more about this... if anyone has info, please share.
Best place in DC for a second date
I LOVE the Little Fountain, the food there is spectacular and its a great hideaway. Cheers to your chef and owner friend!
Veranda (from the original post) is a Shaw hidden treasure. Their stuffed pepperdews are the best. This place has a very laid back european feel to it. They also have outdoor seating and belgium ale. Always a good combo.
Absolutely awesome. Even better, upstairs at Angles… same LF menu, but also includes a bar menu. Buffalo shrimp!!
I have long been a devotee of Angles and often eat off of the Little Fountain menu upstairs. Always top notch with good prices.
Haven’t been here. I did get a chance to make it to the restaurant profiled y’day—Cafe Salsa. Not bad. Not amazing. They still seem to be working out some kinks in service and the food. My meatballs were burned under the bottom. The fish I ordered was piping hot (microwaved?). Yet the asparagus was medium warm. Same for the maduros. And the mash potatoes. The empanadas were good. My gf is from the Caribbean. She was amazed there was no yellow rice on the menu. I guess yellow rice is very caribbean. Would definitely go back for drinks though…
Sorry to interlope on the Little Fountain, but I’ve got to give a shout to Brightwood Bistro. I had brunch there on Sunday (the New Orleans style Benedict) and it was amazing.

Re: Cliff… I must agree, it is the best place for a second date. And not a bad one for a first.
Love it! I think I mentioned it in one of your posts on “best place for a first date.”
Little Fountain is a fine little restaurant. Their lead cooks come and go, but the food and service remains suprisingly consistent from meal to meal. It’s tough to pull that off in this town.
But for Angles and L/F, I’d spend less than $20 in Adams Morgan bars and restaurants per year (and I live in A/M). True neighborhood gems.
Angles is the only reason I go to Adams Morgan (even if I liked it better pre-renovation). Little Fountain’s food is amazing. Their mussels rival Granville Moore’s and they have the best burger in DC.
Little Fountain is a wonderful little spot. It’s a hidden Oasis in Adams Morgan.
Danny Silverman, thanks for promoting and speaking out about our restaurant. Dude, love you. Patrick and I appreciate what you do. You are the shit.
Love,
Chef Mike Hubble
