The reader says:
It is a “painted sign for a farm and garden supply store”.
The reader then wrote back that my man from And Now, Anacostia found the same sign. Scroll to the bottom and he’s got some better angles. It is a beaut.

Hey WE live here and aren't guaranteed proximity. No way I care if a contractor has to...
I used to run on this trail around dusk when I got out of work. I used to pick-up bricks...
Oooook Ted Mosby. What about buildings that aren't in the top 100 buildings ever built?...
Best fish tacos in town. Yuca and horchada aren't too bad either.
I AM looking for a job
So, which came first: the sign or the building that used to be attached to the wall? You can see the joist holes for both the 2nd and 3rd story of that building, so there’s no way the sign could have been visible while the building was there. I wonder if the building has both come and gone since the sign was painted, or if the building has been gone so long that the sign was painted after it was torn down. Fascinating.
