“A moveable feast, death by slingshot, Civil War spies, and Mount Pleasant punk music…

These unique Washington, DC stories and many more will be told on May 30 and 31 when WalkingTown, DC offers more than 100 free walking tours in neighborhoods across the city.

Cultural Tourism DC’s popular biannual event presents tours in up-and-coming areas such as Capitol Riverfront; H Street, NE; and Anacostia, in addition to better known spots like Georgetown, Capitol Hill, and Embassy Row. Several new tours are in the lineup this year, offering veteran attendees a fresh way to explore Washington and newcomers an alternative look at the nation’s capital. Professional guides, community leaders, and neighborhood residents lead the tours, and all are donating their time and expertise.

The WalkingTown, DC schedule is available, complete with meeting places, times, and tour lengths at www.WalkingTownDC.org. Participants can browse the online schedule, pick their favorites, and join the group at the specified time and place. Bike tours, and some walking tours, require advance reservations, and every tour is free.”
