Dear PoP – Argonne Cafe out, Pica Taco Cafe in

“Dear PoP,

The previously discussed Argonne Cafe (http://www.princeofpetworth.com/2009/04/judging-cafes/) seems to have disappeared, but in it’s place has sprung up Pica Taco.

Looks like they may have just opened today. Was told the menu is still a “rough draft” and would probably change some – but it includes various Tacos ($2.00 each) and Burritos ($4.50 to $6.50). They also seem to have kept some of Argonne Cafe’s items – there’s a breakfast selection that looks kind of familiar.

Most interesting part – sounds like they may have Ceviche on the weekends. No word on price yet, but we were told to check back.

Hours run until 8pm weeknights according to the door, and they’re open all day Saturday.

Didn’t try the food, since we had just eaten, but I will admit to being kind of excited about this being around the corner from my front door.”

Very cool. Anyone taste the Ceviche? Anyone gonna miss Argonne Cafe?

In the future, posts like this talking about a business or amenity should include an address just by default to make things more convenient. (I know I can click through and read the other post to find the address, but it kind of defeats the point).

Oh and thanks for posting this – haha. I might have to try it before the chipotle opens and I am sucked into its burrito vortex, never to escape.

um, chicken ceviche? that’s not ceviche, as ceviche is by definition seafood marinated in citrus – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceviche

Sounds like Burrito Fast is going to have some competition in the neighborhood in the inexpensive burrito department. I wonder if Argonne’s will weigh 4 pounds, though.

I dropped in last night and had two barbacoa tacos. They were excellent. The meat was tender with good flavor and they have a good hot sauce. $2.25 per taco (I think the prices went up from when they opened). They had a good selection of Mexican soda and were friendly all around. I’m going to try a torta or burrito over the weekend. I am very excited to have this outside my door!
