Lily’s Cafe Under New Management and Becomes Colorado Cafe

Management remains super nice and have expanded their hours. They are now open Mon. – Fri. 7-7 , Sat. 8-7, and Sun. 8-4. Good news for North Country.
And remember the great restaurant, Colorado Kitchen? This is what the space looks like now. Crazy! Of course the owner of the former Colorado Kitchen, Gillian Clark, will be opening a new spot in the Donatelli building at the Petworth Metro.

Haven’t been to Lily’s Cafe. How is it?
[Ok, here comes a rant:] I’m sad to hear the surly, slow, anti-child Colorado Kitchen will re-open. To be fair, the food was good (what little there is), but to hear everyone ooze over it when the service was soooo bad just mystifies me. I will give any nearby restaurant the benefit of the doubt and my business, but I don’t see why anyone would tolerate the rudeness encountered at CK.

Colorado Cafe’s menu is similar to Lily’s: great breakfast sandwiches; paninis, desserts, and great coffee drinks. what’s different is that they’ve added some Ethiopian dishes. the owner and workers are quite friendly–they’ll offer samples too.

Another charming building, demolished for a boring and ugly box. It couldn’t be more sterile and depressing.
