A sports bar!? Really! Such a shame...I was really into Five back in my clubbing days...so where does one go for good techno, dance now in DC. In case the mood strikes me. I'm not that hip on the current scene now.

Let's all give a shout out to our favorite king of PoP MJ. Fuck Yeah, that man could really strike up a stone gold groove. Wow. He'll be remembered for cranking out some of the most awesome music ever, that's for sure. Do do do do do, do do do do do...

I wonder about Odentex's statements and say to myself, these guys like Mr. M, Ms. B, and Mr. G are in charge, and under their watch the kind of violent crap we see on a daily/weekly basis continue, so if it continues unabated, clearly there is some blame to lay on them. Come on guys, get it together, we want to live in a city with less violent crime perpetrated by children with guns, it's not right, it's just not right....so what can you do? You tell us, pleeeaaasseeee, pretty plllleeeaaassseeeee....

Do do do do do, do do do do do...

public is a crappy sports bar that replaces Five, which was when it closed by far the best club in the city for house, drum and bass, and other forms of electronic dance music. here's hoping it goes out of business and bankrupts its owners.

Excuse the re-print, but 5D folks should be asking the following of Norton, Fenty and the rest of these folks:

Ask Norton and Fenty where our locally elected and locally accountable prosecutor is? We voted overwhelming for a local DA in 2002. Since that time while reported crimes and arrests have remained stable (or gone up) the number of cases the US Atty disposes of each year has fallen to half the number in 2003 (from roughly 10,000 felonies to 5,000). The US Atty isn't doing the job. Same number of criminals arrested, half the cases prosecuted. Pathetic. Now that Norton gets to help select the new US Atty (a democrat) is all forgiven? She’s conveniently forgotten about our vote in '02.

And ask Channing Phillips (the new acting US Atty) why his office only prosecutes half the cases it did in 2003 while the crime rate has actually gone up slightly and the arrest rate is the same? Ask Channing if he’d be so complacent if his children lived on a street where people have daylight gunfights.

Ask Phil Mendelson why he coddles criminals and puts the rights of thugs who carry guns ahead of innocent people like the latest victim in Park View. Ask Phil Mendelson why he champions the "rights" of criminals to gather in public places to sell drugs, rob people, and create general mayhem and blocked legislation last week that would have allowed MPD to shut down known open-air drug locations and other corners, alleys, and spaces where gang members have made life unlivable for law-abiding, tax-paying citizens. Ask Phil how many gang members hang out on his block in UPPER UPPER NW. Ask him if he'd let his kids walk down the street in Park View. Ask him why he would rather let innocent people be shot dead in places like Park View than punish repeat gun criminals with the certainty of a mandatory sentences for endangering the lives of DC residents by repeatedly carrying weapons. Ask him to tell you how much innocent blood does he need to have on his hands before he'll stop being a coward and stand up to the criminals in the city and their wailing mothers.

I think you've misread the name. It's Pubic, not Public. It's been opened by one of the guys whose establishments off South Capitol were displaced by the new stadium.
