max sits up

“Max is about 4 years old and I have been permanently cat sitting him the last 2+ years. I have know him since he was a kitty however.

He is a very sweet cat. He like to be around people and isn’t shy with strangers. He enjoys sitting on my laptop keyboard while I am trying to type, running up and down the long hallway in my apartment to chase after a tennis ball (sometimes he gallops), and watching tv. I also think he secretly likes 80s music because he never seems to leave the room when I have it playing. He even has his own Facebook page. And look how cute he is!”

abbers

“I wanted to enter Abby — the sweetest dog in PoPville — in your contest. Since we picked her up from the Human Society last month, my roommates and I have come to love her devious but always adorable antics! Please consider her awesome ear and tongue holding capabilities!”

Ed. Note:  The cats are not competing against the dogs.  There will be 5 dog, cat and “other” finalists that will each compete in their own category.  We’ll have a poll in each category to select the winner.  Using the comments section for these posts will help me select the 5 finalists for each category.  I’ve gotten some amazing entries, and a lot of them!  So I’ll need your help selecting the finalists.  Maybe at the very end we’ll put the three winners in each category up for an overall winner.

The deadline for entries is August. 1st. Remember, please only send one photo per pet. You can see all the entries here. Due to the large number of entries I have to put more than 3 up a day. Please see after the jump for three more entries.

“Silver is definitely one of the coolest cats in Petworth. We got her back in 1991 from a couple that just had children and wanted to free themselves of the chores that go along with pets. Silver had just had a litter and my wife wanted to get a kitten. When we got tp the house to pick up the kitten, I met Silver, and was so immediately impressed, we asked, “can we have Silver AND the whole litter?” To our lives’ glory, they agreed and she’s been with us ever since. Always amazed us at her ability to understand english and human culture. She has now outlived all her offspring, most recently lost her long time companion daughter Jessie. She is happy to be in Petworth enjoying her black and white years.”

“This is Angus, my 80-pound sheepdog/Pyrenees/horse mix. I think this picture was taken after I ran out of cheese to give him.”

“This is Brownie.

When he is not in the process of stealing computer chairs you can find him lying on keyboards, in boxes, in the middle of the hallway, or taking advantage of stuffed animals. He is addicted to being brushed and loves to tempt you with his soft belly.”
