Highlands located on 14th Street, NW between Crittenden and Decatur got some great new art. And the coffee was really good too! Not a bad place to hit before or after going to the Upshur pool (around 14th and Webster).

    Highlands is a super coffee shop, and it _is_ convenient to the Upshur Pool (one of a handful that passed the City Paper’s “crap shoot” fecal matter random testing). Better yet, Chef Moe and his family turn out AWESOME meals six nights a week, extending their hours past the coffee-time and into dinner. Moe chefs at Hotel Monaco (or some other top-shelp joint), so his menu and preparation are quite good. A hidden gem on 14th Street Heights! And affordable. Beer and wine permit in the works….

    I am torn between wanting to tell everyone this place is the best little coffee spot in DC and wanting to keep it a neighborhood secret. Really nice family place.

    This is NOT your mother’s Mocha Hut! Wow!

    Great job on the mural and getting the place open after it was closed for well over three years!

    @DCBG,

    Thanks for the plug, but I am guessing what will keep neighbors heading back to Highlands will be the coffee and not the pretty colors and the website.
