I was working in Alaska about 30 summers ago - brushed about 30 sled dogs, had 10 garbage bags of hair - carded it, spun it (very poorly - it came out thick as rope) and then had enough to knit HALF a hat that never stopped smelling like dog. (I didn't think this up - people who really knew what they were doing were really selling dog-hair sweaters in gift shops.) But I do remember hearing a story on NPR about contemporary dog-hair knitters. Someone was knitting a bikini. . .
