Yes. People are moving in every week. We were one of the first people to move in, so we will miss having the building all to ourselves. I have to say it is a very interesting mix of people. Very diverse. The building is almost finished and is beautiful! We have been very happy with the management as well. They say some of the retail will be starting construction at the end of the month and the developer has some ambitious plans for this area. It should be exciting to see how everything will come together around here in the next couple of years!

@ a strange

How is park place filling up? I read on their press release that it was 40% full. Is that possibly true?

I agree with Nate, with one caveat.

I actually think what goes on in the side-streets (at least north of the metro) is actually much nicer than CH. CH doesn't really have a neighborhood feel and the 'stooping' is dramatically worse. Come spend a lazy saturday on a block in Petworth and you will fall in love.

To all the CH residents that pass through but don't really spend any time in Petworth/Parkview, I think it looks a lot worse than it really is. The main drag south of the metro as well as the ghetto-Safeway is an eyesore just waiting to be addressed, but its a friendly, generally safe neighborhood - at least more so than you probably believe. I think what goes on on the side-street and playgrounds in Parkview/Petworth isn't vastly different than what happens in those in CH. Just my thoughts (albeit biased) on spending time in both CH and along George Ave.

You can never have too many breakfast places, especially if breakfast is served all day!

@CoHeRedneck: I have been living, dining, and relaxing in a normal fashion (whatever that means) in Petworth, ColHeights, and third world countries alike for years now. Also, my neighbors are friendly, and your "plague" is what I call diversity. Even rednecks like you are welcome here. You don't have to live in fear. This is a great place!

Great news! I just hope that the Tynan folks have the musscle and business wits to actually manage their (what seems to be) a VERY aggressive expansion plan. AFAIK, they have one site now operational, opening one in CH, this one Petworth, and I think at least one other in the planning.. makes me a bit scared but all the best of luck to them! :)

It is good news for Petworth.
As a CH resident, I admit I haven't been to any of the businesses in petworth. Given my history, unless this breakfast place is amazing there really is no reason for me to go up there since I would probably want to walk to something in CH or if I can't find what I need in CH I tend to go further down to U street, etc. I can say that there are enough people around CH to support business that open up around here, but does petworth have enough people to support business that open up around there?
