My friend was living the house when it fell down. Thankfully wasn’t there when it actually collapsed of course. I’m sure it was just a coincidence that the landlord was building the house next door when caused his other property to collapse, allowing him to build another fancy house…

Love it. And who needs more bedrooms? I’d rather have the light and open space. I would say it’s a bit overpriced…but it *is* in Georgetown.

I really can’t speak to the value of any house that’s that expensive, but wow, I love it. The light, the fresh air from the balconies, the swank backyard… not to mention the master bath…. awesome.

I think this house is beautiful, but it is way out of place in that neighborhood. And even worse, its massing is WAY out of proportion with the other houses. It comes right up to the street when most houses are set back 15 feet or so.

Also, it’s in Burleith, not Georgetown.

Modernism is/was a bad idea. This place is annoying and will look stupid in 10-15 years. I would only live in a place like this if I was poor, not if I was rich. Some sleazy insurance company lobbyist will buy this place with all of the money he has stolen from cancer-ridden children. They should tear this place down and put up a vacant lot.

Eric, we’re all critics.

This is GREAT house porn, PoP. Yeah, it’s not all to my personal taste (I don’t get the multiple living rooms or double-height ceilings, for instance – yeah, you get lots of light, but you also lose the potential for a really nice bedroom, plus they lend themselves to draftiness), but it’s still pretty gorgeous.

Totally out of scale for the neighborhood, though (take a look on street view). And do they have rats around there? Because that was my first thought when I saw the hot tub – I’d be afraid of the critters jumping in with me!
