Thanks to a friend of mine for sending the photos and thanks to all for sending emails about its arrival in Adams Morgan. The Cube was unveiled Thursday at 8pm and will be on display through Saturday. Does anyone know if it is promoting a particular HBO show or just HBO in general?

  2. USA! USA!

This is public space. WTF gives HBO the right to appropriate probably 250 sf of city sidewalk to set up a four sided TV?

I’d take that crappy hobo biker statue over this.

For the love of all that is holy, ANYTHING but hobo biker.

@ USA. More than likely HBO is paying the City for the right to use the space. Get used to seeing more advertising in public faciliteis as Cities turn to the private sector for revenue support.

  5. You people are ridiculous. Finally our city is seeing interesting, abstract displays of art and all you can do is complain about the use of the 250 sf of sidewalk space? Would you prefer homeless people foaming at the mouth laying in the middle of the square or garbage strewn on the square?

It was a promotion/advertisement, but the stories were neat. It’s only here for a few days, so no harm no foul as far as I am concerned. Corporate, yes, but still art in my book. All in good fun, yea?

If you actually took the time to take a look at the HBO Imagine cube, you’d see it’s quite interesting and has been getting great reviews all over the place.

HBO has been moving the campaign throughout different cities…NYC, Philly and now here.

It is so much better than the Red Bull monstrosity that was/is inside Union Station.

This came from the BBDO agency. You will find this in NYC and in other cities. You can read more about the HBO campaign “Imagine” here – http://harebrainedcreative.com/2009/09/14/hbo-bbdo-fresh-creative/
