Generally, only the explicit exchange of money for sex is illegal, unless illegal sex acts are involved (ie minors, rape, necrophilia, etc). So a sex club is fine, if you pay dues for use of a facility and not for guaranteed sex. Then there’s the broader issue of “as long as it don’t violate community standards” which in DC are probably pretty low, so maybe necrophilia is allowed here.

For the record, I know this as part of work a while ago to shut down massage parlors in DC, which ultimately failed for the above reasons. Check out the sports section in the WashPost for massage places open until 4am, and realize they are slave houses.

There is another sex club down the street– the Crew Club (open 24 X 7) at 1321 14th. Of course it advertises itself as a “Men’s naturist gym and club.”

Repressive society supports sex houses, prostitution, strip clubs, human trafficking and more. If every town in the USA had an accepted red light district, heavily regulated, but permitted, and if kids were taught differently about sexuality, things could be different. Of course, if things were different, they’d be different. I too got a smile out of the Jack Off Enthusiasts of Washington and Baltimore (JOEWB). Just about every male in the metro area must be a de facto member.

The police tape and police car were gone by 6pm when I walked by.
