Pretty sure this is just closed for a vigil at 5:30pm that the mayor and council members are supposed to attend.

Anyone know what happened about an hour ago at the Roosevelt (high-end building at 16th and Florida, just south of Meridian Hill Park)? As I walked by there were several police cars and a fire truck out front. An ambulance then pulled up and about 15 police cars drove by at around 70 mph and turned east on Florida Ave, and the police cars that had been in front of the building peeled out and left as well. A little later I saw a TV news truck heading south on 16th towards the building. I’m guessing a murder?

With the helos hovering above again, I feel like a war veteran, but the war is right here in our community, often times it seems between children living in our midst, on some horrible misguided dream path that is oh too real. What will it take to turn this harsh and ugly situation around?

We spend 515 billion dollars every year on a “Defense” Department that does nothing to keep us safe.

Meanwhile, our country’s social fabric tears apart. Insane public policy insures that, in the world’s richest nation, a parentless, uneducated, hopeless permanent underclass grows. The rich get richer, the poor stay poor, and the middle class fades away.

It might all hold together for another generation. But our children will grow old in a third-world police state.
