“Dear PoP,
Has anyone tried these guys out? – http://chowhound.chow.com/
The rig is pretty impressive, but more importantly what about the food? Would love to know who has the best BBQ here in the city. I live in the Bloomingdale neighborhood and it would rock to have a BBQ place close by. There is a BBQ place on RI Ave by the Getty Station but really doesn’t look like it does any business…nor does it look sanitary. Would love to hear what people have to say.”
Wow, this looks pretty cool. Mt. Vernon Triangle blog wrote about it here. It is located on the corner of 6th 4th and New York Ave, NW. DC Pit BBQ is Georgia based but features Kansas City Style BBQ. Anyone give them a try yet?
Ed. Note: We’ve previously discussed BBQ spots here, and here and here and here.

They’ve moved – now at 4th and NY.
Yeah, they overstayed their invite at 6th and NY. They then bounced around a few spots in our area before squatting down at 4th and NY for the last couple weeks.
We gave it a try last week, cuz it’s now right down the street from the new Casa De DistrictBeat. It was was suprisingly good from bbq off a truck. Not the best ribs I’ve ever had, but an enjoyable experience. It doesn’t break the bank, which is nice. And I enjoed that the TVs played Michael Jackson music videos the entire time we were there. All told. I give it 7/10.
I’ve also head good things about Kenny’s BBQ at 8th and Maryland NE, but I havn’t been there yet.
But if you are really into BBQ, then this is the blog to check out: http://www.beltwaybbq.com/. Lady AWesome knows the blogger
They are from Atlanta, not KC.
Fail.
well hold off on the fail. The owners originate from kc.
Not like they make it in KC, not worth stopping for if you ask me.
Has anyone tried the school bus bar-b-que in the Safeway shopping center on RI Ave NE?
I like the Rib Pit on 14th street.
i’m kind of curious, and wonder if the original question writer could answer my query.
why haven’t you tried to stop in to B & J BBQ at the corner of 3rd and rhode island? since you live in bloomingdale, it would hardly be an imposition of time to walk down there yourself, buy some food, and form an opinion, for better or worse.
i mean, the internet is a great source of information, but sometimes experiencing something in person makes more sense. this is a situation where i don’t know why you, a resident of bloomingdale, wouldn’t just walk into a bloomingdale restaurant to answer your own question.
Drewlove:
I haven’t gone to the Rib Pit since 1990′s but when I use to go the meat always tasted like it was freezer burned. Maybe i had a few bad batches, but it was tough also.
Do they have like meat fall off the bone now?
Chain wise Famous Daves cant be beat and Hustons.
That said.
My mom cook the ultimate ribs, lol i went over her house (Quincy st in Petworth) and stole one of my dads ribs. It made me miss home cook meals. She said the safeway on georgia ave had Ribs on sale, told me to put it in the oven for 9 hours @ 250 degrees. The secrete to fall off the bone ribs.
She must forget im at work almost 10 hours a day. I can’t do that shit.
