This PoPtrekker was a reader request. It was not possible to mention all the sights on U Street (there are just too many) so I decided to focus on some that may fall slightly below the radar and new development. True story: I thought the filming was on Sunday but it really was Saturday, so I double timed it down there and was 45 minutes late. Sorry IA! As a result I was a little frazzled in the begining and prattle on a bit in front of the Japanese market and Healing Center but it smooths out after that. Sorry ’bout that!
You can see previous PoPtrekker episodes here. This remains a joint Prince of Petworth/ Intangible Arts production. If you have a suggestion for a future PoPtrekker please email me directly.

I go up and down the east entrance to Columbia Heights every day. I don't think there...
first building is the Heurich House Museum second is the building museum
The real problem is not that escalators break sometimes and need to be fixed/reworked:...
Argh. I miss the frog icon. Makes me feel like I can converse with my animal...
Hi,
I would like to talk to you about this, I'll appreciate if you e-mail...
I spotted one error in the video: the eastern terminus of U Street is at 9th St., not 7th St.
You’re looking quite charming these days
Thanks, PoP! Lol I think I was the reader who requested this one. I just moved to the U St. area and wanted to know what some of the (partially) hidden gems were…I haven’t had a chance to explore as much as I would have liked, so this was exactly what I wanted! I love this feature of your blog. ::puts “Oohs and Aahs” on high priority list of places to check out::
Thanks PoP. The CH superhero costume in the Joan Hisaoka Gallery is related to the current exhibit: The Real Story of Superheroes by Dulce Pinzon. She (Ducle) has taken pictures of a number of Mexican immigrants in NYC at work, but wearing a super hero costume. The window washer wearing the spiderman costume is probably my favorite.

Holy crap, I love Slush Puppies and I didn’t think there was anywhere around here to get them.
Hey, is that a Maryland hat? Are you a terp?
That is a Miami Ohio (Frozen Four) hat. Should’ve been their first NCAA championship…
The “CH man” is the Chauplin Colorado (Red Grasshopper), star of a long-running Mexican TV comedy show. He’s not so much a super hero as he is a slapstick character, but he’s definitely an icon in Mexican pop culture.
Sorry, that’s ‘Chapulin.’ Pardon my spelling.
We should get PoP a terps hat. Petworth is clearly Terp country.
Thanks dcdude…that’s one of the few “superheroes” that I couldn’t identify.
zenebech is at 608, not 808, for those who aren’t familiar with the neighborhood and might be looking for them. also, technically, their address is T street, not florida ave. just sayin’
Oops, thanks for the correction IMGoph!
