Checking in on New Buildings

IMG_1565

The building on the 2100 block of 11th Street, NW (south of W) looks nearly completed. Think it fits in with the block? Overall – thumbs up or down?

Whoever came up with the idea that exposed, gray cinder block facades are all hip and cool needs to be slapped really hard.

  • pqresident

in this case the grey cinderblock might actually be OK because it’s contrasted on either side with different shades – red on the left, shiny grey on the right and cream up top. The View 14…that’s another story.

  • Archtype

This is smooth face block, not standard cinder block. It is meant to be used as a primary system, not as a backing for other facade treatments such as brick.

Still looks like cinder block. It looks institutional or unfinished.

What is the point about a “balcony” the size of a postage stamp? It is too small for even one chair.

I know they must have been going for a modern/industrial look but that stone does look like cinder block – and not in a good way.

Looks like the newer sections of Amsterdam.

    Hello-

I am the listing Real Estate Agent for 2121 Eleventh. Interesting comments here. The architectural style was chosen to compliment all the new construction buildings on that block built in the last 5 years. I think it looks great, but the inside is even better.

It will be 4 Condos – three 2BR/2BAs and a 2-Level Penthouse FOR SALE soon – its being finished now.

Modern materials and finishes, open layouts high craftsmanship. There is a small smoking balcony in the front and larger rear outdoor spaces as well. The penthouse has 3 balconies and 2 roof decks. Parking available too.

Check out floor plans, pics and finish details @

Stop by when we are open soon-

I like this building. It works well in the context of the other new modern buildings on the street.
