This condo is located at 2120 Wyoming Ave., NW:

You can find more info here and a virtual tour here.
Well, I thought the virtual tour was pretty impressive. I just couldn’t imagine spending this much money for a first floor unit. What do you think of the condo itself? Is a high floor important to you? This 2 bed/2.5 bath is yours for $1,495,000.

why is there an elevator?
OK, I see. I guess for the garage?
Ground floor? Its a basement – the most expensive 2 bedroom basement apartment/condo I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe someone bought it for 1.6M in 2007.
For that money you can get a semi-detached just up Connecticut in Woodley or Cleveland Park (granted more towards the Wisconsin side of those neighborhoods).
Its been on the market for almost five months without a price reduction so you should be able to get it for a lot less – but why would you want it?
Overall – For that price I want to have a view of more than just brick walls and ankles.
Everything Andy(2) said, plus: Why is there tile in the living room / den? It looks cold and ugly to me. Hardwood or carpet would be much better, I think.
Oh wow… This is the first house porn I’ve totally fell in love with! I live on the first floor of my condo building (I’m a renter, though) and I actually enjoy it. Granted, I do get more noise from the lobby than the higher floors, but it’s not all that bad, and you get used to it. I like not having to climb stairs with groceries or other items, and moving in was a cinch. I’d enjoy having a view besides the alley, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons.
I know this is unrelated, but don’t forget everyone! Tonight at 7:30, get together at Lauriol Plaza, first floor bar, wear your PoP t-shirts! Everyone welcome!
Andy(2): you also get nice views of dog genitalia.
1.495M for a basement apartment? No. However, I love the paintings.
You can totally tell a man lives here. Not only is the decorating very masculine, but the walls are STARK WHITE. If you are going to have tile floor in the main room, at least warm the place up a little bit with some paint on the walls.
That said … the dispicable yuppie in me totally covets that kitchen.
(ugh, my spelling is terrible today, sorry)
@LG is this Monkerotica?
Being able to see a Labradoodle wang while cooking dinner totally makes this place worthwhile. I’m writing my offer up now.
PoP/HipChickinDC – can you follow up on this in two months and see what the price is?
It could be sort of a how far off were readers on the GDoN/House Porn estimates.
It’s overpriced and subterranean but I want this joint in a big way or maybe I just want the furniture.
2 thoughts:
1) that’s the sickest basement ever
2) “Chef’s kitches” should have double sinks
no, but I do admire monkey’s style on occasion!
Two things:
1) One has to assume tile because its a basement condo, which might mean fear of flooding/water damage…
2) What is gods name is that silver framed thing in the kitchen near the sink (its in the wall)… I’m so intrigued!
AA: My guess is that you put a box of wine behind it and you dispense it with class using the wall-mounted spigot.
The observation about dog views – so hilarious, must come from someone who has lived in an English basement.
no, I’ve never lived in one. Just have a bizarre mind, I guess.
LG: In college I lived in one and a roomate’s dog went into heat. Wandering dogs staked out the place and we would look out and see dogs’ faces right at our face level.
I really liked some of the art – someone must be reading this who can tell us the artists?
And the patio is great – the walls look high enough to keep wild animals.
AA that is an espresso machine
NOT, in a big way. I realize Kalorama Heights is the most exclusive neighborhood in DC, but 1.5 million for a basement condo which is very, very nice but other than the kitchen, nothing truly spectacular? For that I’d want a roof deck with a hot tub, or some other “wow” factor, and certainly wouldn’t want to be in a basement. In this economy, I’d be shocked if he got much more than a million, but maybe I’ll be proven wrong …
