Bistro Cacao Opens Up on Capitol Hill

Bistro Cacao recently opened up at 320 Mass Ave., NE. They just announced they are starting a brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am – 3pm. From their Web site:

“Bistro Cacao is the third restaurant venture in DC for the Bolukbasi Brothers. Their first concept was Mezè in Adams Morgan which has given Washington, DC a taste of authentic Turkish cuisine and Istanbul nightlife for more than a decade. Their second venture is Ezme in Dupont Circle which offers select wines and fine small plates for weary Washingtonians and travelers alike.

In Bistro Cacao’s historic location we now invite you to enjoy our new concept of modern bistro-style French cuisine in a romantically charming and comfortable setting blending old France with modern creative touches.”

We ate here for New Year’s Eve. It is significantly better than “Two Quail” which was at this location before. The food at TQ made it feel like you were paying gourmet prices for non-gourmet food. At this place we paid gourmet prices and it really tasted gourmet. I can recommend the sea bass and the apple tart dessert.

I’ve never heard of Ezme (meze spelled slightly different) and a Yelp search of it turns up nothing.

That said, I’ve liked what I’ve had at Meze in the past. Two Quail was certainlly no great loss.

I thought Meze was started by the people who opened up Tabaq (and I thought they sold it to finance the opening of Tabaq).

i love meze! ugh. soooooooooo good! if this place is anywhere near the quality of mezze, i’m there.. OFTEN! when i lived in dupont, i hit mezze often. great place for excellent “middle eastern” food in a chill environment, with excellent service. holy crap, i can’t wait! AND, they’re only four blocks from Senate square! i think i just had a little “happy moment”. excuse me, i must clean up….

My husband and I have eaten at Bistro Cacao twice. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere romantic and the staff made you feel at home. I have recommended it to friends and family.
