I thought I knew all of DC’s Universities but stumbled upon this one on Sunday. Their small Web site says:
” International Graduate University, a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational institution, founded in 1967, licensed to award graduate degrees by the District of Columbia, and approved by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs for veterans benefits, and provides I-20 Visas for students who apply and are accepted for admission with the application form presented in this website.”
They are located at 1325 D Street, SE. But when I asked some neighbors about it they said they thought the school was closed. I called the number listed and got an active voicemail so perhaps they are still open. Anyone familiar with this school? They did have an interesting lawn decoration:
Sadly they stopped shoveling their sidewalk half way…

Am I the only person who lives in the U Street Area to have a problem with the fact that...
XM radio, but probably only because I get it for free. 1st Wave, XMU, BBC or Backspin....
The point is... I don't need to leech Wi-Fi (I have it at home... unlike, apparently,...
Haven't listened to the radio in about 12 years. It's all iPod for me.

The City Paper did a bit on them awhile ago – verdict: Shady, shady people.

Actually they are looking to start a charter school.

I think they also own the site of the old Buchanan School which faces E Street.
As I live about a block from this I hope it doesn’t go through because there is an elementary school right across the street and another one on C Street about 3 blocks away.
The shoe repair school next door sees more activity, AND they have BBQs and car washes in the Summer
Wow! Look at both of the linked articles- the CP article is from 2009 and actually interviewed students in classes, and the Voice of the Hill article states that the school “stopped operating several years ago.” Is one of the articles wrong? Perhaps they could both be right, but in any case I feel bad for Mr Simons from the CP article, it would suck to be wasting time at a school that you can’t get any credit for!
The school might be shady, but International Graduate University – the local DC band, is pretty damn great!
