Friday Question of the Day

My question is a simple one – do you think we’ll get more snow than the Dec. blizzard? I’m putting the over/under at 20″. Is anyone going in to work?

I already received word from Duffy’s located near 9:30 Club (a PoP advertiser) that they’ll be open on Sat. no matter how much snow comes down. So if you guys know or hear of any other places that will be open on Sat. please leave in the comments.

Also don’t forget to shovel your sidewalks and if you have elderly neighbors help them out with their shoveling please.

And finally don’t forget to upload your snow photos to the PoPville flickr pool here.

Argonaut opens at noon and 6 other H Street bars are running a special, for every 6″ of snow, they’re knocking a buck off your drink. They’ll go as low as $2/drink. More details: http://www.thehillishome.com/2010/02/snomg-2-electric-bugaloo-drink-specials-on-h-street/

I’ve heard the Quarry House in Silver Spring will be open all weekend, no matter how deep the snow gets!

It’s gonna be a blizzard, ya’ll! I’m gonna be ballsy and say 28″.

Shit, didn’t do my grocery shopping last night because I went to the bars instead. When the government lets everyone out 4 hours early today the metro is gonna be hell, and so is Giant.

I’ll definitely be celebrating the craziness with festive libations but please think about the folks around you too. Older folks and families with small kids will need your help the next day or two. If you can help open up a path for them to get outside, you will have scored some major karma points. Maybe even knock on their door. For someone cooped up, a quick chat is food for the soul.

I have a family member a couple miles from me who I won’t be able to get to till maybe sunday. She’s got great neighbors and I can’t tell you how grateful I am for them right now. Be that neighbor!

As always the Red Derby will be open.

  10. I like my snow like I like my men. This better be over 12″ or I’ll be disappointed. Though I must say, 20″ starts to get painful.

  11. Pharmacy Bar in Adams Morgan will be open. Now thats a good neighborhood bar to get cheap/strong drinks

    Uh thanks for sharing Anonymous.

I’m “working from home” (watching TV, answering occasional emails from my boss and reading PoP of course!(

I for one, am glad to see the world outside as cold, barren and unforgiving the world inside. I hope it kills us all.

/non dramatic guy having dramatic moment.

Pharmacy is always open. Cheap/strong drinks right near my house sounds about right for me.

I’m already up in Philly at the boyfriend’s house so we can make it to the mountain to go snowboarding tomorrow. Fresh pow byotches!

Although, I wish I was at home to witness this!

PoP, can you check in with Kira and let us know if Domku will be open regular hours?

    • Prince Of Petworth

Domku will be open normal hours except closing at 5pm on Sunday not because of snow though for the Super Bowl!

      • saf

        Thanks.

And that’s just weird about the Super Bowl. Guess they don’t think us football haters will want dinner!

OK, guess there aren’t enough of us to make it worth their while.

Get your cheese early! Just in from Cowgirl Creamery:

    “Hello from Cowgirl Creamery DC!

I just wanted to pass along some info if anyone is curious of stores in DC closing early and such.

We stocked up on cheese, beer and wine early in the week expecting our usual Super Bowl rush. We are closing today at 3pm and will remain closed on Saturday.”

Anyone know if Looking Glass will stay open…I will eventually need a food source.

    • EdTheRed

Yeah, I second this, though more for cabin fever-related reasons, since my fridge and pantry are packed w/ food and beer.

  23. springroadintoaction

    You could go to Giant.

    Actually, I don’t recommend that.

  24. Solly
