It always boggles my mind how many things I have overlooked in this city. I think I’ve walked past this gatehouse hundreds of times located at 15th and Constitution (another is located at 17th and Constitution). It has a neat history:

Columbia Heights and Georgia Ave opened on the same day.
I love it love it love it. I live nearby (Eckington), and bike by it almost every day....

Charles Bulfinch also designed the Mass State House and Faneuil Hall, but surely is best known for being the namesake of the Bull & Finch Pub aka The Cheers bar
Also, according to some tour I went on with my mom once, Mr Bulfinch lived in either this one or the one on 17th with his family which included something like eleven kids or some nonsense.
What’s really cool… is that when this was built, Constitution was a river. So, it was really a “river gate house.”
