Sidewalk of Shame and Artistic Shoveling

64904930

Aaron sends word that the Enterprise on Georgia Ave deposited all the snow from their lot onto the sidewalk. I checked it out and the piles were gigantic. But I did see a guy trying to chop through it so maybe they have fixed the situation. Aaron also sends this rather cool artistic path:

  • Yay for drunk shoveling

    Snow-holes.

Ebenezer Baptist Church on Park road NEVER PLOWS THEIR DAMN SIDEWALKS. It is maddening because everyone else on that stretch of Park does a reasonably good job.

Can I nominate the CVS in Columbia Heights for sidewalk of shame? Except for a small area right near the entrance which was obviously kept snow free from the foot traffic, they made no effort to clear the snow from the sidewalks around their store. As a member of the community, they should be better stewards of their property.

    • CVS is a lousy neighbor in many ways, and this is one of them. I have never seen a CVS clean its walks.

I am NOT looking forward to its arrival in the neighborhood.

  • we should have a post to name and shame the worst offenders. Worst in my neighborhood: owners of houses at the corner of 16th & Varnum. No shoveling at all.

We’re starting this feature on the Hill is Home later today. Obviously it’ll just be Hill businesses and residences, but we’re encouraging readers to give us pics and addresses. We’ve also been sporadically tweeting ones that we see. First one goes up today.

  • Rudy

None of the sidewalks surrounding the park at 13 & K have been cleared. That’s a huge park, it takes up an entire block and buses stop on all four sides.

  • Aaron

One of the houses on Rhode Island around the block from us buried the entire sidewalk on both sides of their driveway in a six-foot pile of snow so that they could dig out their Lexus. It’s absolutely infuriating, and I sincerely hope that he gets hit by an oncoming truck that he can’t see because of the snow mountains blocking his view as he backs out.

One of Enterprise’s cars got hung up on Girard last night, so waht did they do? They left it blocking the street all night!
