Snow Ball Fight Scheduled for 2pm at Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park Sat.

Thanks to all the readers who sent this from Craigslist:
So, the title of the post alone should indicate that I am a HUGE fan of 2 things — (1) Having a FUN time in whatever I am doing and (2) the SNOW!
Well, this weekend those two things come together and I am consequently trying to organize a giant friendly snowball fight in Meridian Hill Park.
For those who participated in the giant snow ball fight on U Street earlier this Winter, you know well how much fun was had — and I envision the same thing, minus people throwing snowballs at car and the subsequent scare that occurred when the cop pulled out his gun!
No, this will be different, 2 teams — across the field from each other just pelting away with snowballs. The layout of the park will make this perfect. There are wooded areas, hills, and completely enough room for everyone to have a blast.
Feel free to bring your pets as well as I know last time we did this there were a bunch of doggies there as well!
Saturday at 2:00 PM EST!! Don’t miss it!!!
The fun will start at 2:00 PM EST!!!

Meridian Hill Park is the BEST location for a snowball fight – won’t impede traffic, bother cops, natural hiding places, a sledding hill…etc, etc. Have fun in Dupont Circle but the real fight will be at Meridian Hill Park.
Also, I don’t think your Dupont 3000 could handle the Meridian Hill Park 600. SPARTANSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

Yup, basically people like myself who grew up here.
It’s Meridian Hill Park and has been since Mary Foote Henderson donated to the federal government the 12 acres across 16th street (the 77th meridian) from her own Henderson Castle about 90 years ago.
In the 1960′s, Nation of Islam’s Malcom “X” Little spoke at the Park once, and hence the name.
He was killed in New York in 1965 by his own violent Nation of Islam.
Some of us Washingtonians have always and still call it Meridian Hill Park, some of us call it Malcom X Park.
It was fun ! A good friendly snowball fight on top of the hill, and a run in the park for lots of neighborhood dogs.
