House of the Day
15 March 2010 9:20 PM | By Prince Of Petworth in House of the DayI like to show interesting painted brick options when I find them. This one is from LeDroit Park. Even though it was a very rainy day when I took this photo you could spot the house from a mile away. I gotta say, I like it. I know there are those that don’t like any painted brick. But for those that do – what do you think of this color?

My father was a stone/brick mason so I always think painted brick is atrocious, but then I’ve learned there is often a reason for it in this city. (i.e. to cover mismatched brick repairs)

Hate the trim… and the reversal behind it is pretty bad.

As I walk by it each day to the Metro, I shudder. Every time I walk by it with friends, they all shriek in horror…maybe because we’re gay and wouldn’t consider such an obnoxious color. Don’t get me wrong…I have an orange spare bedroom…but not THAT orange (with yellow trim). I’d like to see what David Bromstad on “Color Splash” would say!!
