Thanks to a reader for sharing this email from the current owners:
“The LaundroMutt needs new owners…or we will be closing our doors come April 30th, 2010.
We, the owners, have found ourselves too busy with our other business commitments and must sell the LaundroMutt. We would very much like to see this great business continue in the neighborhood and we have loads of ideas to increase revenue and bring additional, exciting services to the customers….but we simply do not have the time or resources to do this.
We are accepting all offers from interested buyers….but are looking to move quickly. It is a great, fun place to work with cool customers (2 and 4 legged). We will gladly share all ideas we have for expanding the business in order to increase revenue and best serve the loyal customers and supportive neighborhood.
Please contact sueb@homewardtrails.org or lrol@aol.com if you are interested.”
A reader sang their praises back in Oct. ’09. Laundromutt is located at 1722 Florida Ave., NW.

Woo! $8 slice of pie here I come, right after my $4.50 cupcake!
(But their pies are...
Been meaning to try their Caramel Apple Crumb pie for awhile. This will definitely make...
I thought they said there would be a lot of pigs here, but there are horses too?
OMG their SMOG and Baltimore Bomb pies are ridiculously delicious!
behind enemy lines
I hate seeing small businesses have difficulties, but I would guess it’s more that they are having financial difficulties as compared to time constraints.
Also, if I were an interested person, the “We will gladly share all ideas we have for expanding the business in order to increase revenue and best serve the loyal customers and supportive neighborhood”… twice, would raise red flags.
Just my 2ยข
I love the idea of Laudromutt and have been there a number of times but turned off by the bored teenage behind the counter and the dirty conditions we have found the shop. My partner and I have discussed the idea of purchasing it for a semi-retirement opportunity for his mother who loves dogs.
I really liked washing my dog here. It was a great price ($20) and I felt he never got cleaner, but, staff was not very helpful and the hours were very limited. So, not too surprised.
I’ve washed my dog here before too. I had a great experience. I hope someone steps in and keeps the place open.
I second all the comments, I take my lab here for a wash, and we both LOVE it! I’m a client and would support the new owner, hopefully it sells!
Why not turn into a co-op? Where members are part-owners? Seems like that would be the simplest solution.
I love the co-op idea. I’d love to be part of something like that!
