It looks like the cool old building at 1020 Girard St, NW finally sold for $418,500 on April 19, 2010. I can’t wait to see what they turn the space into. Looks like it was bought by a group called Capital City Real Estate. I wonder if they’ll keep the mural:

Or save the great old windows:

They’ve been buying all over the neighborhoods of Columbia Heights and Bloomingdale. They usually do small splits of the property, making two condos.
please rehab the building. its old and funky looking. with some love it could shine
Yeah, they are also currently working on what looks like a gut renovation of a gorgeous corner property on Park Road and 13th. The aesthetic of the building had been ruined by all sort of extraneous siding and awnings, which have already been stripped away. If that is split into two units, each would still be enormous.
They’re adding at least one story and making multiple units- I think 4.
I love this place. What did it used to be? Restaurant, bar, juke joint?
RE: Sully – Dave – They are going to add a floor? Ack…!!! I smell a hideous popup….
Definitely adding at least a floor, if not two. On a positive note, they typically do good work so I’m confident it won’t be a total eyesore.

They do nice work, I just preview with a client their project aroun12th and U.
They Remind me of Urban Land Company. They seem like they are buying up a lot of property in various parts of nw and ne
No pop-up–the building has been completely demolished except for the facade, and I can’t imagine they’re going to keep that. Sorry to see the mural go, but the new building should help clean up that alley.
