Coolest Pet in PoPville 2010 Dog Semifinalists

To help select the Dog finalists I enlisted the aid Nichole, former PoP contributor and Fundraising and Outreach Chair of the Board of Directors of Hill Hounds, the official “friends of” group of the soon-to-be-constructed Kingsman Field Dog Park on Capitol Hill. Thanks to all who sent in photos of their dogs. There is a no doubt that they were a super cool bunch this year. Believe me selecting semifinalists was nearly an impossible task (Nichole selected 5 and I selected 5). But at the end of the day, it’s just a fun summer pet contest so let’s remember to vote honestly. If the poll is tampered with your pet will be disqualified. Voting will be open until Friday.

Photos after the jump.

Ruby

“Ruby is not only a fan of crawfish, but knows how to properly pick them up.”

Carlos

Bug

“This is Bug, and despite the pout, she loves everyone and everything. She’s only sad because she’s not currently romping through Meridian Hill Park, our favorite place in D.C. Like her people, Bug is originally from Alabama, so this summer heat thing is no sweat.”

Bolt

“My name is Bolt. I’m a bearded collie currently residing in Logan Circle. I love long walks, car rides, homemade dog suppers, and all my friends at doggie daycare. This pic was taken earlier this month during my trip to Cape Cod.”

Grover

“Meet Grover–he’s pretty new to PoPville, having just been adopted a month ago. He’s already making himself at home in my laundry.”

Captain America

“This is Captain America, Trivial Pursuit master extraordinaire. Sometimes he gets a little impatient when you take too long to answer.”

Winny

“Name: Winny Foote; Looking For: Friendship, Snacks; Birthday: February 22, 2010; Current City: Washington, D.C.; Employer: I’m a lady who lunches; Likes & Interests: Mr. Fox, belly scratches, PoP, tinkling on Mimi’s rugs (she gets so mad!), ice cubes, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, socks, Biz Markie, day-dreaming the day away, chillin’ with Carter, the good life…”

Truvy

“This is my 9 month old Cream Frenchie named Truvy. She is gonna be the Hostess at Logan 14 Aveda Salon and Spa when I open the end of August.”

Myrtle

“Myrtle is from Columbia Heights. She loves Malcolm X Park and people.”

Charlie

“This is Charlie my Capitol dog. Go him from local rescue about 5 years ago. He’s my early morning walking buddy – I have pictures of him all over DC!”

Dizzy

“Dizzy is a 3 year-old boxer mix with a funky white star on his chest. Though originally a stray puppy from Raleigh, North Carolina, his jazz-inspired name (after Dizzy Gillespie) and obvious star power make him a perfect fit here in DC.”

Mara

“She is a Catahoula Leopard Dog and is just as cool as her name is. Everyone is always stunned by her beautiful markings and different colored eyes. On top of that she is super smart and incredibly sweet, loving all humans and animals. She was rescued from a pound in West Virginia and is about 7 months old.”

Goblin

“Goblin on his perch. My little buddy Goblin is a 2 year old French Bulldog who likes to plant himself on the front porch to greet passersby as they stroll down Harvard St. Although he is not quite as famous as Paul the Octopus, he correctly predicted Spain to win the World Cup as well.”

Lucy

“This is Lucy. It’s possible that she’s half ewok.”

Sadie

“This is Sadie, she’s a 7 year old Jack Russell who was rescued this year from the DC Humane Society. She lost her eye to glaucoma, it got infected while she was stray and was too bad to treat. But don’t worry, she’s happy and doesn’t seem to notice, except when she runs into things.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
