You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll open this thread every Monday and Friday. So anything good happen to you this week?

And for those taking off early – have a great three day weekend!

Rave: O St. Market ground breaking!!!

Rant: Gray is leading in the polls…

  • Darth Fabulous

    Rave: Nice weather this weekend.

Rant: Potentially having to look at Gray’s ugly mug for the next 4 years.

  • x

I’ll second that rant. I’m surprised people think Gray is less of a “jerk” than fenty when he repeatedly just scoffs and does loud guffawing during debates. This guy gained a lead in the polls and instantly turned on the smug “i’m right and i don’t need to say why” attitude. Get ready for 4 years of him laughing off your problems while he does… uhhh what is he planning on doing exactly?

    • Petworthian

When they asked Gray how he would go about finding a new chancellor of education, all he said was he would talk to Rhee about her thoughts, but he couldn’t right now because of the campaign. So in other words, he has no idea.

Rant: I’ve been applying to new positions for the past 6 months and am still searching. Trying to stay positive, but it’s getting harder and harder. And, it’s getting harder and harder to mask my unhappiness at my current job.

Rave: This, too, shall pass. Deep breath.

Fall is a good time for job hunting. All the interns go away, so work needs to be done by real people. Keep it up, something will happen soon.

Thanks for the kind response. On an optimistic note, I now have a true appreciation for the healthier work environments I’ve had in the past!

        • c jill

Impressive that you’re able to job hunt and work at your current job concurrently. I finally quit because I had to slip out for interviews so often. Lucky for me, I was able to collect unemployment.

Anyway, good luck! What kind of job are you looking for? Maybe someone here has some leads.

Rant: Put my dog to sleep this week. All of you dog owners please give your pup a hug from me.

    Rave: DC Blues Festival tomorrow!

    • L.

I’m sorry for your loss. Losing a dog (or any pet) is the worst :(

    • MPinDC

You have my sympathies – my old dog died last year and I know how hard it is to lose your pet.

    • My heart goes out to you. I lost my old girl in June and still miss her. But quite unexpectedly, a delightful rescue pup came along (from Lucky Dog Rescue) in need of a home soon after and I will certainly give her an extra hug for you.

      • MPinDC

I also have a Lucky Dog – after six months or so I started looking at Petfinder. And there she was – my new dog.

Who got an extra hug and belly rub just now.

    • PG

Thanks everyone! I’m going to wait probably until next spring to adopt another dod.

Does anyone know of any shelters or organizations that will take medicine donations? I have a bottle of Rimadyl that’s about 2/3 full I’ll end up tossing if I can’t give it away.

    • Kalorini

So sorry for your loss. I had to put my 15-year-old dog down about 5 years ago and I still miss her :-/

    • ugly?

i’m truly sorry you lost yur dog

    Rave: LOVING living by myself!
Rant: still tired from the move last weekend – which I had to do myself because the movers didn’t show up!

  • WDC

Five Guys slipped a raw onion in my burger. (Not a euphemism. Get your mind out of the gutter.)

Way to ruin my lunch. Jerks.

  • Kalorini

Rave: Started grad school this week (part time, still working full time)!

    Semi-Rant: Bye bye, free time!
Semi-Rave: I can understand the new captchas!

Labor Day Rave: Getting out of town this weekend to see my college roommate at the shore, and I think I’ve planned well enough to avoid 95% of traffic :-)

  • Brian

    Rant: Spider Crickets
Rave: Free Nats tickets from Bowser.

  • anon.

Rant: Metro elevators but especially escalators.
Rave: Not taking Metro on Monday (and new Captcha).

  • MPinDC

Rave: Restorative yoga, starting the process of remodeling my kitchen, heirloom tomatoes and pole beans a’plenty.

    Rant: No rain

Thanks PoP for the new and improved captcha!

  • c jill

Rant: Roaches that never go away, no matter how many times I get my place bombed. :(

  • Petworthian

Rave: Earl-free long weekend, great sailing weather on the bay, time with family, looking forward to Shenandoah next week too, yay!
Rant: 8 foot bull sharks waiting at the bottom of the swim ladder.
