Progress on the Red Derby (3718 14th St. NW at Quincy) roof deck is progressing nicely. I hear anywhere from two to four more weeks until completion. Nevertheless, I can’t look at the above picture without smiling.

And in nearby news at 3513 14th Street, NW I was happy to see Pho Viet get some outdoor seating. Upper 14th Street looking good!

I do hope...
Weee! Roof deck will be ready just in time for it to close for the season. Hoping upper 14th St development continues to move up 14th St.
Pho Viet is one of the best kept secrets in the area – it puts Pho 14 to shame! (though it’s certainly not as “cool”)
+1
Do they have the real Pho, with tripe, tendon, etc?
Yes!
Agreed. Also, the guy that owns/runs it is so friendly and helpful.
Do EITHER of the Pho places here serve beer yet? Until I can get a cold beer with my Pho in CH I’ll still be going to Nam Viet in Cleveland Park.
Beer with Pho? Really?
Why not?
Pho without beer? Really?
I’ve never felt the need to wash down a bowl of soup with an an ice cold beer.
crab soup and a beer is a great combo.
potato soup too.
FYI. I wash everything down with beer. Including beer.
And so you are caught in the vicious cycle of always having to drink more beer.
clearly you’ve never been to Viet Nam
Can we expect a Judging Pop-ups feature about this scuttlebutt on a sweet place for a mojito?
Please hurry and open the roof red derby…
See, I live right nea the Red Derby, and I think the roof dek ruins the look of the strip of shops on 14th street here. It really looks horrible from the street – just a bad pop up. And I like to go to the Red Derby. But I just can’t support this monstrosity.
