DC pop-up bakery at Mid City Caffe Friday 6-8pm

“Dear PoP,

I bake whoopie pies, and recently launched Whoops!, a DC pop-up bakery.

Similarly to a trunk show, or pop-up designer store, I’ll inhabit a location for an afternoon or evening and sell my whoopie pies directly to customers. I’ll be popping up at mid city caffe (1626 14th Street, NW) this Friday from 6-8, and am working to set up pop-ups at other restaurants, boutiques, bars, and galleries around the city in the following weeks.

Part of the pop-up goal is to explore the city and see if there is a neighborhood retail-vibe that seems right for the brand.

When it opens, Whoops! will have a make-your-own whoopie pie bar. Customers can choose their own cakes, pick out which frosting they’d like in the middle, and then choose from an array of “elements” to smoosh in between with the frosting. I see elements being anything from lemon curd, caramel syrup, crushed cookies and fresh fruit, to hot chocolate ganache, malt powder, and maybe even some weird stuff like bacon.

The whole point of the whoopie pie bar is to embrace the humor and fun in desserts. It’s the least serious course out there (although you might not think so from recent Top Chef Just Dessert episodes!) and people enjoy it the most when they take ownership over what they’re creating.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
