House of the Day

This great one from Capitol Hill could probably use a few touch ups but I’m completely enamored by the room up top:

Shooting in the 1200 block of I Street SE

MPD reports:

“This evening [Sunday], at approximately 4:35pm, two armed suspects discharged their firearms toward a group of individuals in the 1200 block of I Street SE, on the street outside of the Potomac Gardens complex. One victim was struck and suffered non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is on-going at this time.

I would like to thank all of the concerned citizens who quickly called 911. The ability to get our officers and investigators on the scene quickly to secure the crime scene and locate witnesses is critical in these types of investigations. Thanks for being great community partners.”

Stabbing in Georgia Ave/Petworth Metro Station Sunday

There is very little info available on this incident at the moment. It took place early Sunday evening late Sunday afternoon. TBD reports that the rider:

“was stabbed in the neck at turnstile. D.C. Fire transported the victim priority one, and a suspect is unknown so far.”

I’m told that Metro Transit Police is investigating the incident. More details as they become available.

Tom the “Egg Man” Eggs Available for Sale at Domku on Sundays

Photo of ‘deviled eggs at 2amys’ by PoPville flickr user laurarotondo

Back in October a reader writes in about an effort to get Tom’s Eggs sold at the YES! Organic Market at Taylor and Georgia Ave, NW. That effort was unsuccessful but Tom writes me some good news:

“Kera, owner of Domku restaurant, 821 Upshur street, NW has agreed to allow me to sell my eggs at her location.
Eggs will be available just inside the domku front door. Hours will be every Sunday 0900am till noon. We will begin this Sunday, November 28th.”

Tom will also continue to sell his eggs at the Dupont Farmers Market. This is great news and very cool of Domku. For those who were fans of the eggs at the Petworth Farmers Market – here’s your opportunity to get them year round. Nice.

And for those looking for pickled eggs you may have to wait for spring…

Major Police Presence at 4th and Q St, NW – Avoid Area

“Dear PoP,

On Q St off of New Jersey, I was awakened today at 7AM. There were cops surrounding the ally behind Kipp Will Charter telling someone to come out with their hands up. It is now 9AM and Q St and P St blocked off . I heard that there are three armed men in one of the houses on Q street. It looks like warzone here. They are telling everyone to stay inside.”

MPD alert says:

“Police activity in the 400 block of Q Street NW, street closures is on New Jersey Avenue from R Street to P Street NW. Please use alternate streets.”

Your Afternoon Animal Fix

If you have any fun or interesting animal/pet photos or news please shoot me an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say what neighborhood you’re from or upload to the PoPville flickr pool. I can’t guarantee I’ll get them all posted but I’ll do my best.  I’m aware not everyone loves pets.  But they bring me (and others) a lot of pleasure.  It’s cool, hold tight, a new post is coming in a half hour, you can make it!

The Craigslist ad says:

Features hardwood floors, new kitchen, a/c, w/d, large closets and beautiful appointments. Can be used as one or two bedroom depending upon your needs.”

I was intrigued by the declaration of a “Sun-drenched Unique Penthouse”. Well, I’m glad I looked. Does $2900 sound right for this 2 bedroom?

Dear PoP – Clothing Recycling?

Photo by PoPville flickr user rjs1322

“Dear PoP,

We have a bunch of old clothing that is honestly too ragged/well-worn to give to Goodwill, but it still seems like a shame to throw it in the trash. Do you know of a clothing recycler or rag sorter in the DC area? I’ve googled around (and even called Goodwill) without any luck.”

Do you guys have any suggestions?
