We first learned about Yola, coming to 1323 Connecticut Ave, NW back in late August. I’m happy to report that they’ll be open for business on Monday. Co-owner Laura Smith was kind enough to give me a quick tour earlier in the week. From Yola’s Web site:
“Co-founders David and Laura, both longtime D.C. residents, are a father-daughter team. The idea for Yola came up during a family dinner in 2009. Laura had seen a similar concept in Europe and wondered why D.C. didn’t have anything like it. David and Laura put their heads together and a year and a half later, Yola was born.”
Their menu is “a combination of tasty seasonal ingredients backed up by an ever-reliable supply of superfoods and organic supplements.” They offer yogurt parfaits with unlimited toppings, smoothies, tea and coffee and eventually some grab and go sandwiches. A regular fresh yogurt is $4.25 and a large is $5.50.
The space is very comfortable and much larger than I thought it would be based on the size of the storefront.

More photos after the jump.

They sell gyros so I already know exactly how bad this pizza is going to be.
I'm so glad you posted this - I hadn't thought to donate to the rebuilding. I just...
Sometimes you learn the hard way that trading your Kindle for a pumpkin is stupid.
looks like a good space. i wonder why people open businesses like this and don't succeed.
The no-turn-on-red right turns on Logan are completely ridiculous.
YUM!! And on a related note: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR8gFfM5J_s&feature=related
Everything about this is precious. Every detail. I sometimes wonder when we’ll know Dupont’s jumped the shark. Probably when they open that beer, wine, and cupcake shop I long for.
In any case, I love parfaits, so I’m happy about this.
Can anyone confirm that Comfort One would be serving small plates?
Sliders.
I think you’re on to something. If we could get Comfort One to sell overpriced yogurt, overpriced salads, overpriced cheeseburgers, and overpriced cupcakes, and then put them all on a Comfort One food truck, we could concentrate all of the worlds evils into one mobile command unit. We could call it the Fadmobile or something.
Don’t forget.. Yola is also serving up Counter Culture coffee! South Dupont Circle will no longer be starved for good coffee!
Looks great! I will be sure to stop by.
at first I automatically thought this was yet another frozen yogurt place, and was going to make a disparaging comment. but a real yogurt place? with counter culture? as a yogurt/coffee fiend, I will go out of my way for this.
This and the new Pinkberry in Dupont – wonder if one or both will survive……
I’ll go there just for the Counter Culture coffee. Excellent choice!
YAY I’m so excited for you Laura
Jeez I wish we could get places like that on the frontier of EOSHA (East of Sherman Ave.). That place on the corner of Georgia and Irving would have been nice, but I guess the Ethiopians have become the new Koreans (as the Koreans took the mantle for hood mini marts & cig places from Jews & Greeks) and they know how to meet their clientele’s needs. LOL
This place is going to be a hit. I love everything about it!
I recognize that yogurt from various local farmer’s markets. Good stuff! They did a great job decorating the place– the wall art is quite charming.
SO GOOD. just stopped by for lunch – great sandwich options and so awesome smoothies. SCORE.
