Car Used as Weapon in a Homicide at 14th and Webster St, NW Thurs. Afternoon

From MPD:

“This afternoon at approximately 3:50 pm an adult male was struck and severely injured by a vehicle on 14th Street at Webster Street. The striking vehicle fled the scene. The vehicle is a Jeep Liberty, maroon in color, and is believed to be a 2003 model year. The license plate number is unknown. The Jeep is missing most of its front grill.”

A subsequent MPD report says:

“The victim who was struck by the vehicle was pronounced. It has been determined the vehicle which struck the victim was done so deliberately therefore this case is being investigated by the Homicide Branch. The investigation into this matter continues and we ask that anyone with information call 1-888-919-CRIME.”

While some news reports state that an altercation took place between a couple of people a reader writes in and says that multiple people were involved including one using a dog as weapon. They also say it is possible the victim was hit twice with the same car. Horrifying situation for any time of day – particularly horrifying at 4pm on a weekday near a children’s park.

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 4400 block of 14th Street, NW.

On Thursday, October 6, 2011, at approximately 3:47 p.m., units from the Fourth District were dispatched to the 4400 block of 14th Street, NW, to investigate the report of a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle that left the scene. Upon their arrival, they located an adult male lying in the street that was unconscious and unresponsive. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. His remains have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner pending an autopsy.

The decedent has been identified as 22-year-old Miguel Angel Drullard Jr., of Northwest, DC.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the striking vehicle may have intentionally struck the pedestrian.The lookout for the involved vehicle in this case is a Jeep Liberty that is red or burgundy in color with extensive front end damage.
