Jason was kind enough to share that the property attracted over twenty offers within a short time of being put on the market. Pam Wye, with TTR Sothebys represented the purchaser. Rather than a typical house or condo sale, this property was marketed as a multi-unit building with two apartments plus a church on the first level. Last week I stopped in to check on the new sushi spot, Sushi Para, coming to 4221 Connecticut Ave, NW (in the former Taco Bell space.) The folks in the restaurant said they’d be opening up in a couple of weeks.

“I am curious about the Burger King at 4422 Connecticut Ave in Van Ness. It is three stories, one floor is decorated in 80′s movie decor, the other decorated with Rock n Roll memorabilia. Do you have any history on this location?”

I stopped in last week and couldn’t believe how bizarrely awesome it was. Anyone know why it’s decked out like this? The workers I spoke with didn’t know.

Very cool to see this retail space get filled with a good group. Studio 85 [Ed. Note: careful if you hit the link, music plays] is located at 53 Florida Ave, NW in Bloomingdale. Their website says:

Tammi, Tamika, & Tiffany are sisters who were born & raised in Washington, DC. As kids they were always taking their creativity to new levels, whether putting on homemade fashion shows in their moms closet or turning the whole house into an amusement park! The three have always kept in touch with their creative side and it was always encouraged by their artist father, and there fashion forward mom. So working in a creative field seemed to be fate for each sister.

Dear PoP,

I don’t know the last time that you came into Crestwood, but in the last 6 weeks or so a brand new house has been under construction. For as long as I have lived in the neighborhood (2005), there have been two empty, wooded lots for sale on the right side of Mathewson, as one comes up the hill from Blagden. Well, there now is a new house under construction on one of those lots.

Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Many will remember that Banana Leaves, 2020 Florida Ave, NW, suffered a devastating fire back in March ’11. While they had originally hoped to open in December, I’m very happy to see progress. It’s amazing how good new windows can look. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer now.
